Performance of the choir from "Truro High School for Girls"
On Sunday, Dec. 11th 2011, visitors of the Affing Christmas Market were able to enjoy a choir performance of outstanding class:
The choir of the "Truro High School for Girls" (Cornwall, England) started its "Christmas Market Tour 2011" in Affing, "home to one of the most beautiful Christmas markets in Europe".
After venues in Paris (Notre Dame), Venice (St Mark's), Salzburg (The Dome), New York (Cathedral of Saint John the Divine), Antwerp (The Cathedral), Cape Town (St George's Cathedral) and, earlier this year, in Hong Kong (St John's Cathedral) this trip's stations were Affing Christmas Market followed by Munich, Rosenheim and Salzburg.
The choir with its 24 girls (aged 11 to 17) lead by director Frances Eagar delivered a brilliant performance with professional quality from the arrangements to the solists.
Despite the fact that the Schloßstadel (castle barn) at the Christmas Market and the Affing parish church could not quite provide the acoustics of a cathedral, the audience was thrilled with both performances (each almost 60 minutes).
Video 1, "The Rhythm of Life", in the Affing parish church St. Peter und Paul
Video 2, "'Cross the Wide Missouri" solo with flute
Video 3, "Lord's Prayer" (duet)
Video 4, "Holy Night" and "The Rhythm of Life", in the Schloßstadel (castle barn, not quite comparable with Notre Dame or St Mark's Cathedral, but with a charme of it's own...)
The quality of the original sound is not captured on these videos.
