In a nutshell
Affing Christmas Market with its "gemuetlich" atmosphere and attractions for all ages takes place every year on the 2nd and 3rd Advent weekend.
The market is arranged by a registered non-profit association, the "Weihnachtsmarkt im Schloßhof Affing e.V.", which is organized by a honorary board. Preparation and running the market would not be possible if it were not for the numerous helping hands.
Families and clubs from and around Affing are mainly exhibiting on the market, but you will also find historical craftsmen presenting their work.
Each year, Affing Christmas Market donates money to charity organizations.

In 1994, Affing women's club organized the first small christmas market on the castle court yard.
Because of the positive experiences, the market grew to 12 exhibitors in 1995.
The first manger scene with real animals was installed in 1996 and has become a special attraction ever since. The kids also liked the horse carriage rides very much. In 1996 you could travel to the market by steam engine (with additional help of a bus shuttle from/to the next train station). Eight families and clubs joined the market.
The big manger scene exhibition with some pretty old and precious pieces was a magnet in the year 1997. Affing's school and kindergarden kids helped too and provided funny and creative pieces. For the first time, you could mint the Affing Weihnachtstaler (christmas coin) with a historic coin press. This website started in 1997 - Affing Christmas Market was the first to go online in the region. Seven additional participants enriched the market's offer of goods and meals.
In 1998 the non-profit association was founded to run the market. The barn with the historical craftsmen exhibition opened its doors for the first time. This barn was restaurated and upgraded in 2003 to provide more space and comfort.
A TV crew from Bavarian Television visited our market in 1999. Their report was available online for a few years.
So the market grew and is now attracting people from home and abroad. Visitors really seem to like Affing Christmas Market: In 2004, we won the title "Bavaria's most beautiful christmas market". More than 190 markets all over bavaria joined that competition. The market had some 30 exhibitors and a new attraction on the 2004 market was camel riding.
In 2006 we got another visit from Bavarian Television, this time it was the crew of the "Zeitspiegel" magazine.
More about the market's history can be found in the newspaper archive (in German only). No language skills are required for the picture galleries, giving you impressions of the atmosphere and attractions of Affing Christmas Market.
