Affing Christmas Market has been voted "Bavaria's most beautiful christmas market" in a competition initiated by the "Löwenbräu" brewery at the end of 2004.

Löwenbräu promised to award 10.000 Euro for charitable uses to the town with the most beautiful christmas market.

The cheque was presented to the mayor of Affing on February 15th, 2005 at the Bachwirt Pub in Affing-Haunswies.

The Todtenweis Brass Band provided a fitting musical background to the evening. Of course, nobody had to go hungry or thirsty, partly owing to free Löwenbräu beer.

Mayor Rudi Fuchs then announced that Affing's town council decided to divide the sum between three charities:

The Affing theatre society, which has been culturally enriching the town for 25 years, received 6.000 Euro.
Affing Christmas Market celebrated its 10th anniversary in 2004 and it has become a major attraction for the town during the last years. The Affing Christmas Market was awarded 3.000 Euro.
And finally, the "Komitee Lobez" got 1.000 Euro in recognition of its long-standing work supporting the relationship between Affing and its polish twin town Lobez by organizing exchanges etc.

We at the Affing Christmas Market want to say thank you very much for the contribution. We will use the money in preparing next year's market - for example, there are booths to be built or repaired, and some other work has to be done on the infrastructure.
